President Hu Jintao on Tuesday sent a message to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to congratulate him on his re-election victory.
China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors and the two peoples enjoy deep traditional friendship, Hu said in the message.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in January 1992, remarkable progress has been made in the development of bilateral relations, marked by the frequent exchanges of high-level visits and the deepening of political mutual trust, Hu said.
The message was sent after Nazarbayev won a landslide re-election victory for another seven-year term by gaining 91 percent of the votes in Sunday's polls.
Bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, energy, transportation, culture and education has also been fruitful and the two countries maintain close cooperation and coordination in international and regional multilateral affairs, Hu said.
Maintaining a long friendship between China and Kazakhstan conforms to the wishes and fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples and is also conducive to peace, stability and development in the region, said the message.
Hu said he is ready to work with Nazarbayev in the Kazakh president's new term to further strengthen the good-neighborly relations and friendship as well as mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and push forward the all-round development of their strategic partnership.
Earlier on Monday, Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan has established an unprecedented strategic partnership with China, and is willing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields in accordance with its set policies.
