Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said in Beijing Thursday that China hoped to join hands with Moldova to bring the bilateral military cooperation to a new high.
Cao, also vice chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission and a state councilor, made the remarks at a meeting with Valeriu Plesca, defense minister of Moldova.
He said bilateral relations have developed in a sound and stable manner since the two sides established a diplomatic relationship.
Under the new situation, Cao stressed, it is in the common interest of the two nations to sustain and drive forward friendly cooperation.
Cao also briefed the guest on China's economy and its stance on international issues.
Plesca expressed Moldova's firm adherence to the one-China policy, saying his country supported China's efforts in safeguarding national unity and territorial integrity.
Moldova is looking forward to more cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces, Plesca added.
