China on Wednesday donated US$500,000 worth of and aid and relief materials to the local government of Nias regency, Indonesia's North Sumatra Province, on the earthquake-ravaged island, an official of the Chinese Embassy to Indonesia told Xinhua by telephone.
The aid materials include 500 gasoline power generators, four large-scale diesel power generators, 100 walkie-talkies, 3,000 pieces of sheets, 3,000 pieces of carpets and other goods.
This was part of the aid of US$2 million promised by China.
The rest US$1.5 million was donated to the Aceh and Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) in Jakarta on September 17, he said.
First Secretary in the Chinese Embassy Xu Liping and officials from the local government and BRR attended Wednesday's donation ceremony.
Nias regency suffered a major earthquake in March this year with more than 600 people killed. The infrastructure was almost destroyed and the island needs a long time to be rebuilt.
