Egypt, Mongolia Works Late for Beijing Int'l Art Biennial

The works of Mongolia and Egypt artists have not arrived in Beijing for the second Beijing International Art Biennial on Tuesday.

The Egypt works are three pieces of sculpture and the Mongolia ones are four paintings and one piece of sculpture.

The delay of Egypt's are blamed on the typhoon and Mongolia's are owing to the transportation problem, said Liu Zhong, spokesman of the Chinese Artists Association, one of the exhibition sponsors.

The 30-day event, the largest scale of its kind in China, attracted more than 400 artists from 67 countries and regions, including Anselm Kiefer and Gerhard Richter, and bring more than 700 pieces of works, mainly paintings and sculptures, said Liu Dawei, vice chairman of the Chinese Artists Association.
