Libya Willing to Further Cooperation with China

Libya is willing to boost cooperation with China in various fields, Libyan leader Muammar Ghaddafi said Saturday while meeting with visiting Assistant Foreign Minister Lu Guozeng in Sirte, Libya.

Voicing satisfaction with the smooth development of Sino-Libyan ties, Ghaddafi told Lu that he hoped the bilateral ties would undergo greater development in the future.

He also reiterated his country's adherence to the one-China policy, reports reaching Tunis from Tripoli said.

Lu, for his part, said China and Libya have enjoyed traditional friendship. In recent years, both sides have conducted close political contacts and consultations and witnessed continued development in economic and trade cooperation.

Both countries have also carried out good coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, including the UN reforms, Lu said.

China hopes to join efforts with Libya to further boost bilateral cooperation in all fields, he added.
