Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in Beijing Wednesday with visiting Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong.
Jia said he hoped that both sides will earnestly implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen unity, expand exchanges and enhance cooperation so as to take bilateral good neighborly friendship and cooperation to a higher level.
Jia said the National Committee of the CPPCC, China's top advisory body, will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and promote the overall development of bilateral relations.
Tran said Vietnam will work with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached between leaders of the two countries and push forward bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
He said the VFF will also further exchanges and cooperation at various levels with the CPPCC National Committee to make greater contributions to the development of bilateral relations.
Tran started Monday a five-day state visit to China as guest of President Hu Jintao.
