Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan said in Beijing Thursday that the Chinese army is ready to expand friendly cooperation with the Mozambique army.
Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, made the remarks in talks with Mozambique Defense Minister Tobias Jaquim Dai.
Cao said the people of China and Mozambique have enjoyed traditional friendship and the two countries have conducted effective cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and culture since they forged diplomatic ties.
The Chinese army cherishes traditional friendship with the Mozambique army and will continue to expand cooperation between the two armies, he said.
Cao appreciated Mozambique's persistent support for China in the one-China policy and human rights.
Dai thanked China's assistance and support and said he hoped the two countries and armies can enhance cooperation and exchanges in various fields. Dai arrived here Wednesday on a seven-day official goodwill visit as guest of Cao.
