Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada in the Mexico City.
At the meeting on Tuesday, the two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues.
During his stay in Mexico City, Jia will also meet former Mexican President Luis Echeverria Alvarez and Senator Diego Fernandez de Cevallos.
Mexico is the first leg of Jia's four-nation tour in Latin America. He will also visit Cuba, Colombia and Uruguay.
