US Confirms American Killed in Egyptian Attack

The US State Department confirmed on Friday that one American was killed and three others injured in Thursday's bombing attack in Cairo's Khan al-Khalili district.

"There was (an) American man, who was in Egypt for tourism, who was killed in the attack. Three other Americans, also in Egypt for tourism, were wounded in the attack," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said at a briefing.

"Let me extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of yesterday's bombing attack," Boucher said.

According to Boucher, the attack killed three people, including the bomber and wounded 20 foreigners and Egyptians. The attack took place in an open-air market in Cairo's Old City.
