A bomb went off Sunday in a seaside hotel in Spain's southeast city of Denia, after a warning call in the name of the separatist group Basque Homeland and Freedom (ETA).
The explosion in a courtyard was the second one claimed by ETA in two weeks. It caused no casualties as a news media in northern Spain was informed of the venue and time 45 minutes before the bombing. About 160 people were evacuated immediately.
On January 18, a car bomb exploded in a Basque town in north Spain, injuring a police agent. An ETA source warned daily Gara of the imminent attack in a telephone call.
ETA is said by the government to have killed more than 800 people, kidnapped 70 others and wounded thousands since 1968 when it began a campaign for an independent Basque state in northern Spain.
Spain, the United States and the European Union have branded ETA a terrorist group.
