China has sent a set of communication equipment, valued at US$ 2.5 million, to Sri Lanka, Indonesia and other tsunami-hit countries.
An official of China Ministry of Information Industry says the landline network is nearly unavailable in some tsunami-hit areas.
And in the west coast of Sri Lanka, the mobile phone network coverage is limited.
He also says that this set of equipment will mostly be used for the emergent assistance.
