Chinese Premier: Sino-EU Ties Not Target Third Party

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao says Sino-EU relations are conducive to stability and cooperation among big powers in the world and do not target a third party.

Wen Jiabao, who is attending the seventh China-EU summit in Hague, the Netherlands, met with EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Tuesday.

He said that both China and the EU are responsible for pushing the bilateral ties to a new level, from a strategic perspective.

Barroso said all EU member states agree to develop EU-China partnership in a comprehensive manner and the new EU Commission pledges to work with China and add new dimensions to bilateral cooperation.

The same day, Wen Jiabao told Chinese and foreign experts on Sino-EU relations, that both China and the EU should try to reach common ground and put aside any differences.

The Chinese premier also encouraged the experts to contribute more to the development of Sino-EU relations.
