China is urging developed countries to fulfill their commitments to the developing countries.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative Zhang Yishan said developed countries share an irreplaceable duty to help underdeveloped countries and called for further action in trade, transfer of technology and debt relief.
The Chinese representative pointed out that, against the backdrop of globalization, global leaders should work together to build a fair and transparent international mechanism to better cope with poverty alleviation.
He also expressed China's willingness to cooperate with the international community to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goal of reducing the world's poor population by half by 2015.
