Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo said the Chinese government has always regarded Nigeria as a reliable friend and faithful partner. Wu made the remarks while meeting with President of Nigerian Senate Adolphus Wabara and Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Masari.
He also expressed China's appreciation and gratitude for the Nigerian government and parliament in supporting China on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and others, saying such a support has further consolidated Sino-Nigerian ties.
Wu Bangguo suggested that leaders of the two countries exchange visits and dialogue, strengthen communications, and enhance cooperation in international organizations.
Adolphus Wabara and Aminu Masari said they thought highly of Wu Bangguo's visit, saying that it further deepened the relationship between the two countries.
The Nigerian speakers said in line with President Obasanjo's policy toward China, Nigerian parliament will honor the one-China policy.
Wu Bangguo, who is on a four-nation African tour that had taken him to Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia, is expected to meet with Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo before concluding his visit to Nigeria on Monday afternoon.
