Ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will stay in the French Percy military hospital for at least two weeks for medical observation and treatment and then will convalesce in Tunisia.
A Palestinian official who is accompanying Arafat in France said his current illness was due to a heavy workload. The official added that the sub-standard living conditions in Arafat's compound in the city of Ramallah, and his age, were also contributory factors.
Earlier on Tuesday, the official announced in an official medical report that the Palestinian leader does not have leukemia.
