Hu: China Actively Prepares for Olympics

President Hu Jintao says the Chinese government is paying special attention to the preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and will continue to support the city's efforts to hold a top quality Games based on the concept of a "green, scientific and people-friendly Olympics."

Hu Jintao made the promise when meeting with International Olympic Committee President Jaques Rogge in Beijing.

The Chinese president says the IOC provided a good chance for Beijing to learn from the successful experience of Athens by holding a summing up meeting of the Athens Olympics in Beijing. He is sure the Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee will study this successful experience to do a good job of preparing for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also hopes the IOC will continue offering advice and help to Beijing and that the two sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

Rogge says he is very satisfied with the preparations so far and believes Beijing will host an excellent Olympic Games.
