Guinea Bissau Reaffirms One-China Policy

Leaders of Guinea Bissau Tuesday pledged to continue their support for the one-China policy.

According to news from Bissau, during meetings with Chinese Assistant to Foreign Minister Lu Guozeng, Guinea Bissau's Prime Minister Carlos Gomes and Parliament Speaker Francisco Benante spoke highly of the bilateral relations and expressed their appreciation for the Chinese government's sincere help given to their country.

They said the government of Guinea Bissau will not develop relations with Taiwan and continue their support for China's unification.

On his part, Lu said China would like to thank Guinea Bissau's government for its persistence in the one-China policy. China regards Guinea Bissau as a real friend and partner and is willing to provide assistance to the African country, the Chinese official said.

During his two-day visit, Lu also held talks with his Guinea Bissau counterpart Filomeno Lobo de Pina, and both sides signed an agreement on technological and economic cooperation.
