The fashion world has turned its spotlight on the charming Chinese coastal city of Dalian, Liaoning Province. Famous designers and rising stars gathered there this week to show-off their latest creations at the annual Festival, now in its 16th year.

Young French designers wowed the audience on Saturday night with their simple, but exquisite and feminine styles. But more excitement is on the way. Prominent designers from Britain, South Korea and Japan will unveil their latest innovative work in five shows later this week.

The festival in Dalian has also become a launching pad for the careers of young Chinese designers. Some thirty designers from around the country vied for the much-coveted "Dalian Cup" distinction. In the end, Fudong, a young student from a local college, took the top prize with her fashion series, entitled "Links."
