Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili met in Beijing Wednesday with Gaston Caperton, governor of College Board in the United States.
Chen, extending her welcome to Caperton's visit to China, expressed her appreciation for the efforts by the College Board to add Chinese into its test for senior high school students who take preparatory courses for college academic credit.
She said the exchanges and cooperation in educational sector between the two countries and the move to encourage young people to learn each other's language are beneficial to mutual understanding and cultural diversity.
Caperton said the US College Board attaches much importance to cooperation with China, and is willing to establish long-term and stable cooperative channels in terms of teaching staff, materials, courses, test and modern technology.
Chinese Minister of Education Zhou Ji also attended the meeting.
