Greece Deports over 100 Illegal Egyptian Immigrants

More than 100 Egyptians will be deported by Greek police, who were arrested over the past five months for entering the country illegally, a police source said in Athens on Monday.

Those deported have nothing to do with a possible terrorist attack during the Olympic Games, according to the source. The source added that the deportees were to be flown to Cairo in the evening aboard an Egypt Air flight chartered by Greek police.

Greece, which has seen illegal immigration rise over recent years, has increased border checks to stem the flow of people trying to enter the country illegally, especially through its Turkish and Albanian borders.
