A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for stricter supervision over leading officials, to meet the demands for building Party-style and clean government and fighting corruption.
Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), made the remark at Friday's workshop on the work of inspectors.
Wu called the decision to send out inspection teams a major action for the Party's ongoing anti-corruption drive. The inspectors should go deep into the people to learn about realities in an objective way, he noted.
The meeting was presided over by He Guoqiang, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He Yong, a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat and deputy secretary of the CPC CCDI, was present.
Since last year, the commission and the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee have sent five inspection teams to 10 provinces. At the beginning of this year, special teams were also sent to check the banking sector.
