Chen Zuji, former senior procurator in Hunan Province, central China, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for bribery by the Intermediate People's Court of Wuhan.
Chen, former vice procurator-general of the Provincial People's Procuratorate, was accused of receiving bribes totaling 591,600 yuan (US$71,500) from 1993 to 2001.
He was also unable to release the source of his personal property worth 2.62 million yuan (US$320,000), according to the court.
Chen was taken to court in Wuhan, the capital of neighboring Hubei Province, so he could receive a fair trial.
