Chinese President Hu Jintao said Wednesday highly qualified officials are vital for China's economic development.
Hu, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remark when meeting with the heads of local Party schools who had just concluded a two-day meeting in Beijing.
He said the party schools should adhere to the Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents as their guiding principles.
The former president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee said the schools should continue to improve their work by carrying on good traditions and keeping pace with the changes in the new era.
He said schools should contribute more to the training and nurturing of official.
