Beijing Invites Overseas Investment in Service Trade
Beijing welcomes overseas companies to invest in the service industry in China's capital, Mayor Meng Xuenong said here Tuesday.

During a meeting with Percy Weatherall, managing director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited of the United Kingdom, Meng said Beijing was carrying out its strategy of "New Beijing, Great Olympics".

Beijing would invest 200 billion yuan in the city's basic construction for the 2008 Olympic Games, he said.

The 2008 Olympic Games would bring several million visitors to Beijing and provide huge opportunities for the architectural and service industry.

Weatherall said his company had confidence in Beijing's promising future and would invest in fields such as real estate, hotels and beauty shops.
