The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)'s Administrative Secretary Donald Tsang said he is considering setting up a new office in the HKSAR to effectively liaise the Pearl River Delta region for cooperation.
Tsang Monday said he is currently mulling over information regarding the government and non-government organizations, as well as the business organizations, in the Pearl River Delta to see how both the HKSAR and delta can cooperate more closely.
Tsang said by cooperating more closely with the delta area, more wealth and employment opportunities will be created in the HKSAR in the areas of banking, financial services, transport, tourism and logistics.
Meanwhile, Tsang said he is looking into the possibility of hosting an exposition in the HKSAR for enterprises in the Pearl River Delta and other cities and provinces at the site of the former Hong Kong International Airport at Kai Tak in Kowloon City in Kowloon.
He said he would put forward the proposals to the relevant authorities on the mainland in March or April.
