Capital Markets to Be Conference Focus
China's capital market will be the focus of a conference in Beijing's China World Hotel on Wednesday and Thursday.

It is being organized by Euromoney Conferences, a division of Euromoney Institutional Investor Holdings Ltd, along with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and the HSBC Group.

Chinese Government officials will be among the more than 50 speakers from both China and the international financial community who will address the key issues affecting their organizations and investment strategies.

Wang Zhenjun, general manager of the general administration office of the ICBC, said: "China's fast-growing capital market is a double-edged sword for banks. On the one hand, it diverts some of the capital. On the other hand, the market implies enormous opportunities. We hope to get some good suggestions from the conference on what banks can do in this market."

Liu Zhigang, general manager of the bank's management and information department, added that the bank also expects the conference to be a bridge that will lead Chinese enterprises to the world and let foreign investors find out more about China's investment environment.

Pierre Goad, head of public affairs of the HSBC Asia-Pacific Investment Banking and Markets section, said his bank hopes to give people the chance to promote their friendship and business by meeting each other face to face.

Having run over 30 events a year in more than 60 different countries, Euromoney Conferences is now a benchmark name within the finance, business and investment sectors.
