CPPCC Leaders Take Party Guidelines to Heart
How to convey the guidelines of the just-concluded Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress was a hot topic during the 19th Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which ended Friday in Beijing.

During the five-day meeting, standing committee members studied and discussed the report made by Jiang Zemin at the 16th Party congress. They agreed that the congress opened a new chapter in the history of the Party and the country.

Zhou Tienong, vice-chairman of CPPCC, said it is an important practice for the CPC to set its guidelines and policies and clarify its position on the situations and tasks it faces, noting that learning and practicing the guidelines will be an important task of the CPPCC.

Zheng Shouyi, a member of the China Zhi Gong Dang party, said the Party congress provided the CPPCC with a wider stage for its political consultations, saying their party will increase momentum in the democratic supervision and participation in state affairs. This party will also actively seek new methods and solutions to improve its political consultations.

According to the resolution passed Friday, standing committee members said Jiang's report helped them understand what road to take and what objectives to attain in the new century.

The resolution called on CPPCC members to follow Deng Xiaoping Theory and implement the important thoughts of the "Three Represents'' which call on the CPC to always represent the development of China's advanced productive forces, China's advanced culture and the fundamental interests of the Chinese people.
