A bank employee who fled with more than 330,000 yuan (US$39,600) after opening the vault with a copied key has been sentenced to death, with a two-year grace, in Guizhou Province.
When he was in charge of the vault from May 1999 to September 2001, Xu Anfu had a locksmith copy a key of the vault. On February 17 when the bank was closed, Xu opened the vault and stole the money. Xu was caught 10 days later in neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
