A former top official of the Ministry of Communications yesterday was sentenced to five years in prison and had all his personal properties confiscated for taking bribes.
In 1994 when he was the vice minister of communications, Zheng Guangdi helped a Hunan Province trade company earn more than 1 million yuan (US$120,000) from a program with a government department in Guangdong Province, said the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court. The Changsha-based company gave him 90,000 yuan.
