More than 2,000 Internet bars in south China's Guangdong Province have been equipped with the "net110" software to prevent users accessing pornographic websites, the China Police Daily reports Wednesday.
The software was jointly designed and produced by the Computer Supervision Division of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau and a high-tech development company.
It is reported that the software system has also been installed at Internet bars in seven other provinces and cities.
As one of China's most prosperous regions, Guangdong leads the country in the number of Internet bars. The provincial cultural, industrial and commercial, telecom and public security organs have united in cracking down on unregistered bars and portal servers and strengthening management.
