As the host city for the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing will soon invite global tenders for building stadiums and gyms for this important event.
Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, made the remarks in the capital on Monday when meeting Steve Bracks, visiting premier of the Australian state, Victoria.
Liu, also the chairman of the Games organization committee, said Beijing welcomed foreign companies submitting tenders, adding that public bidding would bring them rich opportunities.
A total of 32 stadiums and gyms are needed for the 2008 Olympic Games, according to committee sources.
Beijing will build 19 new stadiums and gyms, which will cost about 14 billion U.S. dollars and be completed by those companies that win contracts in global bidding.
