China's employment market was on a healthy track in the second quater of this year, according to the Ministry of Personnel.
The ratio between job vacancies and applications improved slightly to 2.85 applications for every vacancy from 2.86in the first quater, according to the China Daily on Friday.
Between April and June,3.74 million people competed for 1.31 million jobs.
Job applicants with a diploma in marketing analysis or intermediary services had the best prospects.
Applicants who had studied electrical engineering and mechanics faced a tough situation. They outnumbered vacancies in almost all cities.
Nearly half of the job opportunities nationwide were concentrated in six cities, namely, Beijing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin. Some 57.1 percent of job applicants preferred to look for a job there.
Compared with the prosperous job markets in coastal regions, the relatively less-developed western China apparently lacked appeal for job-hunters.
There were 2.3 job applicants of every vacancy in western China, 20 percent lower than the national average.
The majors most sought after by employers in western China were business administration, marketing and mechanics.
