The Office of the Commissioner of China's Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong reiterated Friday that Hong Kong's affairs are sheerly China's internal affairs and no foreign countries have the right to make irresponsible remarks and reckless comments.
In response to media inquiries on the latest report on Hong Kong compiled by the British Foreign Commonwealth Office, a spokesperson with the Office of the Commissioner of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) pointed out that it is an indisputable fact that since Hong Kong returned to the embrace of the motherland five years ago, theprinciples of "one country, two systems," "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong" and a high degree of autonomy have been successfully implemented.
Moreover, the Hong Kong SAR government has exercised governancein accordance with law and Hong Kong people's basic rights and freedom are fully guaranteed, the spokesperson noted.
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw presented the bi-annual report on Hong Kong to the British parliament on July 23, following his visit to the city last week.
