Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Jiang Chunyun has emphasized the importance of improving the country's legal system and establishing a credit system.
This is vital to maintaining economic growth and social stability, Jiang said during a recent inspection tour to Henan Province, central China.
Jiang said the legal system and credit are the cornerstones of a market economy. It is necessary to encourage healthy trends, fight against bad tendencies, and punish those who are dishonest, violate business rules and sabotage economic order.
Jiang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, called on people's congresses and governments at all levels to play their due rule in building a market credit system by drawing out related laws and regulations.
Honesty should be promoted in all social sectors so that a credit system can be set up between businesses and individuals. The government and its departments should create an environment for open and fair competition according to market rules, he added.
