During an inspection tour of northwest China's Qinghai Province, China's Vice-President Hu Jintao urged committees of the Chinese Communist Party and governments at various levels in the western regions to work with high morale, and steadfastly push forward the local social and economic development.
"The implementation of the Western Development Strategy has brought unprecedented opportunities and a strong impetus for development in China's western regions," said Hu. "They should grasp the opportunities and lead the local people to push local social and economic development to a new height," he added.
The tour, which ran from May 22 to 27, took the vice-president to grassland pastures, farm fields, construction sites, factory workshops, and rural and urban households in Qinghai.
