Shi Zhaobin, former deputy secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), was sentenced Monday to 13 years imprisonment for taking bribes.
The Intermediate People's Court of Sanming City made the decision and ruled in the meantime that 200,000 yuan (US$24,000) of Shi's personal property should be confiscated and the bribe money forfeited.
Court investigations found that Shi, when he was secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, accepted bribes totaling some 600,000 yuan (US$72,300) between 1994 and 1999.
He was deprived of his post in September 2001.
