Official Urges Modernizing Logistics Sector
A senior Chinese official Monday in Shanghai called on local governments to modernize their logistics sectors by adopting chain operations, materials distribution, online commerce and other advanced methods of materials circulation.

State Councilor Wu Yi said at a national conference on logistics services that there can not be a real socialist market economy in China without modernized logistics services, not to mention improvement of the overall quality of the national economy.

She said more efforts are needed to promote the modernization of logistics services in a bid to improve the efficiency of economic operations, expand domestic demand and rectify the economic order.

Wu called on local governments to curb regional protectionism and strive to foster large logistics companies with international competitiveness, while training more professionals specializing in logistics services and international business law.

Efforts must be made to speed up the construction of a commercial credit system to create a sound environment for logistics services and consumption, she said.
