Macao, Guangdong Police to Cooperate More Closely
Police from the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the neighboring Guangdong Province will consolidate cooperation in combating cross-boundary illegal activities and organizational crimes.

A press release from the fourth working meeting between Macao and Guangdong police said that the two sides will take more efficient measures to maintain stability and improve social order in the region.

The two sides deliberated on Thursday over how to crack down on stowaway and cross-boundary crimes, and agreed that a special working group will be set up to cope with shooting cases and gun deals.

The meeting was presided over by Cheong Kuoc Va, secretary for security of the Macao SAR government, and Liang Guoju, director of the Public Security Department of Guangdong Province.

Macao and Guangdong put into operation a new mechanism to notify each other of the latest security information as of last September.

In Macao, the law and order situation has been improved to a great extent since it returned to the motherland at the end of 1999.
