CPC members urged to practice Party doctrines
Adjust font size:

Xi Jinping, a newly-elected member of the top leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said Tuesday that all Party members should list learning and practicing the new Party doctrines as their top political task.

Xi, a member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, spoke at a workshop on studying and practicing the essence of the 17th CPC National Congress.

He said it was of vital importance to study and practice what the CPC central leadership upheld at the congress for Party building, and to achieve the goals and strategic tasks confirmed at the event.

He stressed that the Party Constitution was essential for regulating and guiding the CPC's work, adding that studying the Constitution was fundamental for grasping the essence of the Party congress.

In his speech, Xi hailed the achievements of the Research Institute for Party Building over the past 20 years.

The workshop was held to mark the 20th anniversary of the institute, which is under the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Li Yuanchao, newly-elected head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

The 17th CPC National Congress, held from Oct. 15 to 21, adopted a major amendment to the Party Constitution by adding the Scientific Outlook on Development.

Xi, 54, took over from Chen Liangyu as Party chief of Shanghai early this year and was elected to the nine-member top CPC leadership at the first plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee in October.
