Macao has set up a commission to coordinate the fight against AIDS, according to the Government Gazette issued on Tuesday.
According to the order signed by Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, which was published by the gazette, the commission comprising 25 members from public health sector and civil society will be headed by Chui Sai On, secretary for social affairs and culture.
Till this September, 335 HIV infections were reported in the Macao Special Administrative Region, among which 33 being confirmed to have developed AIDS, according to the gazette.
In the third quarter of this year, eight HIV infections were reported in the region with a population of nearly 470,000, it added.
