HK Immigration Officers to Help Victims in Mainland Traffic Accident

Two Hong Kong immigration officers were sent to China's mainland city Huizhou Sunday afternoon to help victims in a traffic accident in which two Hong Kong residents were killed.

The traffic accident involving a seven-seater car and a goods vehicle occurred at 1 a.m. Sunday on Highway 205 near Boluo in Huizhou, Southeast of China's mainland. Among the casualties, two Hong Kong male residents were reported to have died and another male one was injured.

A spokesman of the Hong Kong Security Bureau said two immigration officers had been deployed to the hospital there Sunday afternoon to provide all practicable assistance to the victims.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government office in Beijing and the Immigration Department had immediately liaised with the relevant mainland authorities to follow up the case after learning of the accident Sunday afternoon.
