Senior Offcial Visits Central Archives, State Archives Administration

Wang Gang, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday inspected the Central Archives and the State Archives Administration.

Wang urged the Central Archives and the State Archives Administration to further strengthen their infrastructure construction, enhance their service capability, enlarge their collection and pay attention to professional training.

The Central Archives, covering an area of 118,000 square meter, was started to build in 1954 and opened to public in 1959. In 1993, the Central Archives and the State Archives Administration were integrated. Nowadays, the collection of the Central Archives and the State Archives Administration involved important archives concerning politics, economy, culture and education.

According to the Law on Archives, the Central Archives and the State Archives Administration have opened tens of thousands of archives to the general public.
