Guangzhou's urban planning bureau last week unveiled its plan for the new Guangzhou Railway Passen-gers Station, which is set to become one of the four railway transport centers in China.
The station, located at Zhongcun in Panyu District, will occupy an area of 11.4 square kilometers. The area will not only be developed into a transport center, but also provide housing for 50,000 residents and employment for 150,000 workers.
It will connect Guangzhou's Metro and Guangdong Province's railway and highway networks.
The area will comprise three parts: a new passenger station, a section for inter-city expresses and a section for Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway.
The main part of the station will be finished by the end of 2007 and put into use in 2008.
