The People's Bank of China announced Tuesday that the new print of the current version of the Renminbi, the country's currency, will be issued on Aug. 31.
The main picture and color of the new bill will remain the same as the RMB in use, but with improvement of technology, said an official with the central bank.
The current print of the Renminbi will stay in circulation, and neither units nor individuals are allowed to refuse the old or new notes for any reason, the official said.
Five versions of the currency have been issued since the New China was founded in 1949.
