Xu Zongheng was elected Shenzhen Mayor Thursday at the first Session of the Fourth Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress.
Xu Zongheng, born in July of 1955, is a native of Xiangtan, in central-south China's Hunan Province. He once worked as a member of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China CPC), standing Vice-Mayor of Shenzhen and deputy secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Committee.
Meanwhile, Li Hongzhong, secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress on the same day.
Li Hongzhong, born in 1956, is a native of Changle in east China's Shandong Province. He once served as secretary of the CPC municipal Committee of Huizhou, a city in southern Guangdong, and vice governor of Guangdong Province.
