Tsang Approved to Resign as Acting HK Chief

China's State Council Wednesday approved the resignation request of Hong Kong Acting Chief Executive Donald Tsang from the post of Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration in line with the Basic Law of Hong Kong SAR.

 

Tsang was due to leave the post Wednesday.

 

In accordance with the Basic Law, Tsang also left the post of acting Chief Executive when he resigned from the post of Chief Secretary.

 

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Henry Tang became the Acting Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR according to the Basic Law.

 

Tsang, who became the acting Chief Executive in March, tendered his resignation on May 25 to prepare for the Chief Executive election.
