A plane sent by the Spanish Red Cross with 14 tons of aid materials on board left for tsunami-hit Sri Lanka on Wednesday, said the government of the Canarias Autonomous Region.
The plane, financed by the autonomous region, is the fourth aid plane to tsunami-hit Asia and the second one to Sri Lanka sent by the Spanish Red Cross, said Alberto de Castro, director of the organization.
He also said his organization will send several more aid planes to the stricken countries in the coming days.
The plane is carrying 1,500 plastic tents, 1,000 pieces of kitchenware and a vehicle, said the Canarias government.
