First 28 Chinese Rescue Team Members Return to Beijing

The first 28 members of Chinese International Rescue Team returned to Beijing Wednesday after 13-day rescue work in tsunami-ravaged Indonesia.

Those 28 people are members of the first group of Chinese International Rescue Team sent to the worst-hit Aceh Province of Indonesia on last Dec. 31, which has helped more than 7,000 injured tsunami victims.

The Chinese government has send two groups of Chinese International Rescue Team with rescue equipment and related goods to Indonesia, and several Chinese medical teams also arrived in Sri Lanka and Thailand.

According to the State Seismological Bureau, this is the third time that the Chinese International Rescue Team has gone overseas for emergency rescue aid move. It was sent to Algeria and Iran in 2003 when they were hit by devastating earthquakes.
