The basic differences were yet to be resolved after Tuesday's meeting of the heads of delegations to the six-party talks, said Japanese delegation head Kenichiro Sasae.
However, the differences and stance of the parties concerned had been fully summarized, said Sasae, who just returned to the hotel from the meeting.
The delegation heads discussed the concrete contents of the draft joint statement at their meeting, held in a serious, intense and earnest atmosphere, he added.
They would meet again on Wednesday, said Sasae.
