Australia Offers Anti-SARS Aid to Xinjiang
Australia Monday provided 100,000 Australian dollars (65,000 US dollars) in anti-SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) aid to China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The Australian embassy in China publicized the donation via a press release.

An ambulance for transporting SARS patients and training programs for contagious diseases have been attached to the assistance, the news release said.

Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer announced in May that Australia will offer 500,000 Australian dollars (325,000 US dollars) worth of medical assistance to China via the World Health Organization (WHO), the release said.

Australia has provided 120,000 Australian dollars (775,000 US dollars) worth of aid to the WHO to back the Asian Pacific region's fight against the SARS epidemic, the release said.
